MTN Foundation commissions a series of state-of-the-art Dialysis and Mammography centres around Nigeria

The MTN Nigeria Foundation, through the Medical Support Project, is supporting Nigeria¿s health sector with 12 state-of-the-art Haemodialysis and 6 Mammography Centres across the 6 geopolitical zones of Nigeria.

These centres are provided with the latest equipment and modern facilities to support the treatment of people with kidney-related disease who require dialysis and for screening for breast cancer respectively. The centres are located within selected Teaching Hospitals, Federal Medical Centres and State General Hospitals across Nigeria.

Starting in 2010, MTNF commenced the commissioning of some of the sites for public use which includes:

MTNF, through the project, aims to achieve the following objectives:

  • Support Nigeria¿s Healthcare system with 12 Haemodialysis and 6 Mammography facilities to address prevailing life threatening conditions such as Kidney-related disease and breast cancer
  • Provide the facilities with state-of-the-art Dialysis machines (24 pieces) and Mammography machines (6 pieces) 
  • Support the facilities with more than one year supply of sufficient clinical and non-clinical consumables and alternative power for their operations  
  • Assist to build capacity of the centres¿ medical and non-medical personnel through training/retraining in operations management and clinical applications. 
  • Provide limited post implementation support and maintenance across all the 18 facilities through its 3 Project Consultants. 
  • Contribute to reduction in morbidity and mortality rates associated with chronic kidney disease and breast cancer in Nigeria.
  • Increase the level of awareness of chronic kidney disease and breast cancer prevention.

  7. University of Ado Ekiti Teaching Hospital, Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State
  8. Braithwaithe Memorial Specialist Hospital, Port Harcourt, Rivers State
  9. General Hospital, Calabar, Cross River State
  10. General Hospital, Yauri, Kebbi State
  11. Specialist Hospital, Sokoto, Sokoto State
  12. National Hospital, Abuja
