MTN In-Flight Roaming

MTN Nigeria has successfully launched and rolled out its mobile roaming services on aircrafts with Aero-Mobile and On-Air. This is a first from MTN Nigeria for postpaid customers who now can roam and use their phones to make voice calls, access the internet and send SMS on the plane during flight as they would on the ground.

MTN Nigeria offers in-flight roaming service with the following networks:

Roaming Onboard of Aircrafts with On -Air: Available airlines &  aircrafts

TAP Portugal Airlines (Airbus 319) to Europe, Cape-Verde & Azores

Wataniya airways: Dubai, Amman, Damascus, Sharm El Sheikh, Cairo, Beirut and Bahrain

Royal Jordanian: Europe, Middle East, North Africa and India.

Roaming Onboard of Aircrafts with Aero- Mobile : Available airlines &  aircrafts

39 Emirates airlines covering Middle East, Europe, Australia and Asia

1 Malaysian airline covering European destination, Australia and China and Japan in Asia

Note: Call Set up fee is a charge for connecting you to a call. You are only charged this if your call is answered.

How it works

• This service is available to all postpaid customers that are subscribed to MTN Nigeria  roaming service.
• Check with any of MTN Walk-In-Centres or Connect Stores in advance to activate international roaming to enable you make and receive calls.
• The service is available only on equipped flights; which serve certain routes. While on board, customers can make and receive calls, send and receive SMS, listen to Voicemail messages and access the internet exactly the same way as on the ground.
• Switch your mobile phone on flight mode to access the  services.
• The roaming services in-flight are available during the 'cruise' phase of flight only (i.e. after take-off and before landing).

Important Tips

• Always check with the Cabin Crew to determine if the service is available on your flight.
• Ensure that your phone is switched off during take-off or descent prior to landing.
• Give consideration to the other passengers around you when you are using your phone in-flight.
• Consider using a phone headset if you have one
• On nighttime flights, consider sending a text message or email instead of making or taking a call.
