What is MTN sightz&soundz ?
MTN sightz&soundz is the MTN MMS service (Multimedia Messaging Service) that allows our customers to share life's most beautiful experiences in more ways than just sending an ordinary text message.
With this exciting new service you can send messages that can include
pictures, sounds, video clips and other sounds such as ringtones as well as text to other users. This extraordinary experience is all made possible through 'GPRS' technology. GPRS is a technology that allows a mobile phone to be able to send and receive data (e.g. browse the Internet) in a quicker, more efficient way.
Our prepaid subscribers can enjoy GPRS at 15k/KB and MMS at N60 per message sent. Pls call 180 for details
How do I get to enjoy MTN sightz&soundz?
To enjoy MTN sightz&soundz, all you to need is to just a get a Multimedia Mobile phone. To confirm that yours is a multimedia enabled phone, click here You also need to request for MTNsightz&soundz activation by typing the word SETTINGS in an SMS and send to 3888 at no cost
You can set up MTN sightz&soundz on your mobile phone:
Via SMS
Via Manual Setup (If you dont get your settings via SMS check if your phone only supports manual setup).
You can request for MTN sightz&soundz settings by typing the word SETTINGS as an SMS and send to 3888 at no cost. You will receive an SMS notifying you to save setup information that will be sent thereafter.
Please save the settings as soon as they are delivered to your phone to avoid deleting them in error.
Thereafter you get a welcome SMS, encouraging you to send an MMS to yourself to be able to receive MMS in the future. After your phone is setup, you must do a location update by switching your phone off and back on again. If after a few trials, your phone still does not receive the settings you need for MTN sightz&soundz, visit your nearest MTN Connect or call 180 for more tips.

There are some phones that can only be setup manually. Please click here to see if your phone is one of them. To setup your phone manually, you need to enter the following information, as applicable, on your phone:

What settings do I need in my phone?
Information about how to configure a range of different WAP-enabled mobile phones using GPRS is available within this GPRS user guide. The list of phones presented in this guide is not exhaustive, but we shall make best efforts to update it regularly.
Will GPRS replace WAP?
No, GPRS is not an alternative to WAP; it's simply a different way of accessing the Internet, using your phone without having to connect it to a computer. In fact, GPRS makes WAP a more exciting experience, giving quicker and easier access.
Can I send and receive Email via GPRS?
Yes, when you access the internet with a GPRS phone, e-mail is just one of the many services you'll be able to use quickly and easily.
How much does it cost?
Effective from November 21, 2005, Multimedia Messaging will be charged at N60 per message per recipient and GPRS Traffic will be charged at 75k per KB.
Can I use GPRS abroad?
Not at the moment. We have not entered into GPRS and MMS roaming agreements with other networks to allow you use GPRS abroad.
The settings have been sent numerous times to my phone but I can’t receive them.
It is possible that your phone is not ‘Over-The-Air’ Compatible. This means that your phone cannot process the messages that deliver the settings. Hence you may have to use this guide to manually configure your phone.
I have been able to get my phone configured, but I still can’t seem to connect to the Internet. Why?
If your phone was manually configured you may need to check again to be sure that all the settings were properly done.
Whenever I receive the settings, it is stored in my SMS inbox. And I can’t install the settings on my phone.
It is possible that your phone is not ‘Over-The-Air’ Compatible (e.g. Panasonic GD 68, Motorola C333). This means that your phone cannot process the messages that deliver the settings. Hence you may have to use this guide to manually configure your phone.
Why do I lose connection in the middle of a WAP session?
This can be as a result of:
1. Difficulties in connection to the particular WAP site you are browsing.
2. Signal problem when connecting.
3. Time out of the WAP session.
4. You may have to retry your connection.
Why can’t I connect to sites that I was able to connect to before?
It may be possible that some of these sites have restrictions by the site owners or the site is down at the time you were trying to browse. There may also be issues relating to signals where you are trying to browse from.
I have fixed dialling on my phone. Why can’t I access the Internet?
You may not be able to access the Internet using MTN GPRS when fixed dialling is enabled. Therefore, it is best that you disable same before trying to access the Internet.
How can I check how many bytes/kilobytes I have used so far?
Some phones will display the amount of bytes/kilobytes sent and received while browsing. Other phones do not come with this function. Some Internet sites also inform you of the size of a page before it is downloaded.
What is the maximum size of an MMS message?
The limit of an MMS per recipient is 100kb.
I am getting an error ‘No Gateway response’. What should I do?
This maybe as a result of the GPRS settings not being properly installed on your phone. Or you may have selected a Web page while on a WAP session. Please confirm that your phone has the correct GPRS settings and you have entered the correct (WAP/Web) site.
Why am I getting an error – Connection failed?
It is possible that you are not within an area receiving MTN GPRS/MMS coverage.
What does File Format unknown mean?
This means that you are trying to download a site that contains information in a format that cannot be handled by your phone.
Can I send an MMS to other Networks?
Not yet. This would be possible as soon as MTN enters into the relevant agreements with other networks.
