1 ISSUE: How can I setup Call Barring?

Solution: To setup Call Barring
Call Barring lets you stop/bar incoming or outgoing calls whenever it suits you.
For Example:·

  • You can bar all outgoing calls an only receive incoming calls.
  • You can bar all incoming calls and only make outgoing calls. To use Call Barring you will need a code that is four numbers long. At first it is 0000 (4 zero's), but it is best to changes this to your own secret code, so that no one else can undo your Call Barring.

 

2 ISSUE: How to make your own Call Barring code?

Solution:
To make your own Call Barring code:·

  • Press **03*330* (the current barring code - at first it is 0000) * (new barring code of 4 numbers) * (punch in the same new number again) # (green phone/yes/OK).·
  • Make sure your voicemail is cancelled before you set up Call Barring. You can cancel
  • Voicemail by pressing ##002# (green phone/yes/OK).·
  • Your Voicemail service can't work if you have Call Barring on your cellphone.

To bar/stop:

  • Outgoing calls to international numbers:·
  • Press *331* (barring code) # (green phone/yes/OK).


    All outgoing calls:·
  • Press *33* (barring code) # (green phone/yes/OK).


    All incoming calls:·
  • Press *35* (barring code) # (green phone/yes/OK).


    To cancel all Call Barring:·
  • Press #330* (barring code) # (green phone/yes/OK).

 

 

3 ISSUE: How can I setup Call Divert?

Solution:
Call Divert allows you to redirect incoming calls to your Voicemail or to any other phone number. On many phones it is possible to use one-touch speed dialling to access this service. Please refer to your phone manufacturer's manual for more information on speed dialling.

 

 

4 ISSUE: How can I setup Call Waiting & Holding?

Solution:
Call Waiting and Call Holding:
Handle two calls at the same time with this easy-to-operate MTN service. If you are busy on a call and somebody else calls your number, your cellphone's Call Waiting feature will let you know there's another call waiting by making a special sound. Your cellphone's Call Holding feature lets you take the new call without losing the first one. You can also switch between the two calls as often as you like. (Not all cellphones support this feature.)

To activate Call Holding:

Firstly, Call Holding must be activated on your SIM Card.

You can activate your SIM Card from you cellphone by doing the following:·

  • Activate: *43# (green phone/yes/OK).
  • Cancel: #43# (green phone/yes/OK).

Once active, Call Waiting lets you know there's another call waiting by making a "beep" sound. You simply put your first call on hold by pressing 2 (green phone/yes/OK). Then take the second call. To return to your first call or to witch between calls - press 2 (green phone/yes/'OK). You also have the option to end the first call before taking the new call. To do this press 1 (green phone/yes/OK). Or, you can ignore the waiting call without disturbing the present call by pressing 0 (green phone/yes/OK).

 

 

5 ISSUE: How can I setup Call Forwarding?

Solution:
Call Forwarding (Allows you to forward all your incoming calls any other number than Voicemail)

When you're busy on another call, not available to answer your cellphone / or need your incoming calls forwarded to another number, simply use the four Call Forwarding options. Remember - if calls are forwarded to any number other than Voicemail, it will be charged for:

To forward all your incoming calls:

  • activate: **21* (forwarding number) # (green phone/yes/OK).·
  • cancel: ##21# (green phone/yes/OK).

To activate Call Forwarding when there's no reply:

  • activate: **61* (forwarding number) # (green phone/yes/OK).·
  • cancel: ##61# (green phone/yes/OK).

To activate Call Forwarding when your phone is switched off:

  • activate: **62* (forwarding number) # (green phone/yes/OK).
  • cancel: ##62# (green phone/yes/OK).

To activate Call Forwarding when you are on another call:·

  • activate: **67* (forwarding number) # (green phone/yes/OK).·
  • cancel: ##67# (green phone/yes/OK).

To cancel all Call Forwarding:
All Call Forwarding services can be deleted simultaneously by entering the following command: ##002# (green phone/yes/OK)To forward your calls to your mailbox use 100 as your forwarding number.

 

 

ISSUE: How can I setup Call Line Identity?

Solution:
Calling Line Identity (CLI)
Calling Line Identity (CLI) means that the number of the person calling you will be shown on your cellphone screen. If you have stored the caller's name and cellphone number in your cellphone's memory, then their name will also be displayed. This means that you can decide whether to answer your call, prepare your response or even greet the caller by name. Remember CLI only works if the caller is phoning you from another cellphone.

To activate CLI on your phone:·

  • Pay the required set up fee N1500·
  • Visit an MTN service centre, or;·
  • Call MTN Customer Care on 180 (green phone/yes/OK) from a MTN Cellphone (TollFree), or;·
  • 080310 180 form any other phone (calls charged at cellular rates).

 

7 ISSUE: . How can change my PIN Code?

Solution:
To change your PIN code:
When you set up your SIM Card to start requesting a PIN, your PIN code is set with the code 00000 (5 zeros). It is a good idea to change this number to your own secret number as soon as you can. This means that nobody else can use your cell phone without asking you first.

Change your PIN code by doing this:·

  • Press **04*.·
  • Enter the old PIN code (00000 at first) then press *·
  • Next, enter your new secret PIN code, followed by the * button. Choose a number that you will remember easily. It can be up to 8 numbers long but not less than 4. Most people choose 4 numbers.
  • Enter the new number again and press #.
  • Every time you switch your cell phone on it will ask you to enter this secret PIN code.
  • You can change your number whenever you want, by using the above instructions.

 

8 ISSUE: How can I unblock my cell phone?

Solution:
How to unblock your cellphone:
Your SIM Card will become "blocked" if the wrong PIN code is entered into your cellphone 3 times. Make your SIM Card in your cellphone work again by using the PUK number (printed on the same sticker that contains your cellphone number) and follow these easy instructions:

  • Press **05*.
  • Then enter your PUK number and then the * button.
  • Enter a new PIN, then press *.
  • Enter the new PIN again and press #.

Or, call MTN Customer Service from an MTN cell phone 180 (Toll Free for Booster Card and Business Time Users) or from any phone 080310 180 (calls charged at cellular rates).

 

9 ISSUE: Can I call for Emergency services?

Solution:
Emergency Services
Emergency Services 112. A 24-hour crisis centre for any emergency. Whether you need to police an ambulance or other emergency help, MTN's 24 hour service will get the right help for you.

How to use this service

  • Call Emergency Services 112 - Dial 112 from your Cell phone. Give your name to the operator. Give as much detail as you can of your emergency situation and needs. Assistance will be dispatched to you. A follow-up call will be made to ensure that you have been assisted.

The emergency Services 112 number works even when you have no SIM card and/ or he is not sure of the PIN number.

Please note: While there is no cost for the 112 call itself, the actual cost of the emergency service provided (e.g. ambulance for medical services) is to be paid by the person who receive the assistance.

 

 

10 ISSUE: When will your tariffs come down?

SOLUTION:
In dollar terms, airtime tariffs should come down over the next one year. However, this reduction will only be reflected in Naira terms if the Naira remains relatively stable against the dollar. This condition is put, because costs which we bear in connection with our services are predominantly in US dollars

 

11 ISSUE: Will your service be available throughout Nigeria?

SOLUTION:
We plan to cover the whole of Nigeria within the next 4 to 5 years. Our plan is to strategically deploy our service from place to place over time. Click here to know where we're deploying our service next.

 

12 ISSUE: I am unable to make or receive calls on my phone?

SOLUTION:
Check your phone to see if you still have access days or airtime left. Remove your battery and insert it again. Try to make the call now. If not possible, kindly contact our Friendship Centre or MTN authorized dealer near you.
