Focus on YOU

To support our customers and communities, we launched the “Y’ello Hope Package”, a broad set of initiatives deployed to support national efforts at containing the spread of the COVID-19 virus, mitigate the pandemic’s social and economic impact, and keep our customers connected to their loved ones, critical resources, and support.

To ensure the most vulnerable and marginalized communities were not left behind, we launched a free SMS service, providing 300 free SMS’s per customer, per month, for 3 months. MTN subscribers have also been granted free daily access to key health and education-related websites, in partnership with NCDC and the Ministry of Education, and fees for local money transfers via our MoMo Agent Network were waived for a month during the lockdown period.

To support government response efforts, we provided communication systems, connectivity support, analytical response management, and risk profiling tools for state governments; and facilitated the efforts of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) by providing connectivity support, SMS distribution of updates and personal protective equipment for front-line health workers.

MTN also contributed N1 billion to the Coalition Against COVID-19 (CACOVID), a private-sector task force working to increase public awareness, provide food relief to 1.7 million households nationwide, and support the nation’s crisis response capabilities by providing medical supplies and equipment, isolation, and treatment centres, test kits and training.

Whilst everyone cannot be in the frontline in the battle against this pandemic, we can all find a way to support the health workers in the frontline, in addition to personal precautions. This is the time for us to join hands together and contribute in any way we can to defeat Coronavirus.
