Reliable connectivity is more important now more than ever, and our teams have been working hard to minimize the impact of the pandemic on our operations. We are committed to ensuring that the network remains fully operational and that we continue to expand its reach in line with existing plans.
During the pandemic, we have experienced unusual traffic patterns, with inflated demand for data, digital services, and a deflated demand for voice. We have deployed additional resources to upgrade capacity where necessary to ensure that we can meet these demands and will continue to invest in the network to provide adequate capacity and coverage.
We also recognize that demand for digital services is likely to remain high for some time, if not permanently, as the pandemic has fundamentally changed individual and commercial behavior. To support our customers, and the wider ecosystem navigate this transition, we have provided free access to select educational sites and 500MB daily off our mPulse website for students as well as a series of virtual programs for individuals and SME’s. Our current SME focused initiative, The Revv Programme uses a four-pronged approach, including masterclasses, access to market, productivity tools support, and advisory initiatives, to reach and support 10,000 small and medium scale enterprises (SMEs) across Nigeria.
A total of nine masterclass sessions will be delivered by MTN executives and industry experts after which 200 SMEs will be selected to join MTN’s Y’ello 200 accelerator program, giving them exclusive access to a broad range of technology-driven tools and services.
