Alhaji Muhammadu Danlami joined the Federal Department of Customs and Excise as Collector of Customs and Excise in 1967. He rose to the position of Chief Collector in 1976. During this time, he was appointed the Customs Attache Accredited to the International Customs Co-operation Council Brussels, Belgium as well as the Customs Representative at the European Economic Commission and General Agreement on Tariff and Trade, a United Nations Institution based in Geneva, Switzerland and also served as the Permanent Secretary, Niger State Ministry of Health and Environment from 1976 – 1983.
He was appointed a pioneer Board member, National Board for Community Banks in 1991 which was responsible for laying down the principal guidelines and provisionally licencing the first one thousand Community banks in Nigeria. In 1992, he was appointed as Chairman, Niger State Housing Corporation. He has also served as the Resident Electoral Commissioner under the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Akwa Ibom and Kano States. He was elected Board member, Kontagora Community Bank Limited and became the Chairman of the bank in 1995.
He currently serves as the Chairman of the National Veterinary Research Institute, Vom, Plateau State.
