In the year under review, we met strategic milestones and surpassed critical targets that have a long way in providing support and succor to our communities. These were achieved by the Foundation’s pledge of N800m to various causes and projects.
…to the millions of MTN Nigeria customers whose support remains the bedrock of all that we have been able to achieve over the years, I say thank you for your patronage and support.
Guided by an unwavering commitment to the socio-economic growth and development of Nigeria and the upliftment of humanity through Corporate Social Responsibility, in 2018, we continued to partner with government, the private sector and other ecosystem partners to launch and sustain projects that have changed the cause of things and touched lives.
One of such projects is the MTNF Anti Substance Abuse Program (ASAP), launched in December 2018. This is a change intervention aimed at curbing the prevalence of substance abuse and addiction in Nigeria using a 3 pronged strategy – Awareness, Advocacy, and Empowerment.
Our collaboration with MTN Nigeria ecosystem partners, Oracle, Digital Bridge Institute, IBM and Google led to an ICT and Business Skills Training aimed at empowering youths across Nigeria with strategic ICT and Business skills – critical to improving their business or professional careers.
These two initiatives struck a chord with me. As a pharmacist, I am increasingly worried about the dangers and negative impact of drug abuse in our country, especially on our young ones, who are our future and deserve all the encouragement they need to reject temptation while focusing their energies on productive pursuits such as the one provided by the ICT and business skills training.
These two initiatives are just a few of the various successes we achieved in the course of the year.
