MTN XtraSpecial Postpaid is a special tariff plan that allows you enjoy a FLAT rate of 15.36 kobo per second for MTN-to-MTN calls, MTN-to-Other networks and to 10 selected international destinations from the very first second.
MTN XtraSpecial Postpaid tariff plan does not attract a daily or monthly subscription or access fee.

Steps to Migrate to XtraSpecial Postpaid:

If you are currently a Postpaid customer, you will automatically start enjoying the flat rate but if you are a Prepaid customer, you will need to visit any of our service centres to migrate and do the following:

  • Fill and sign off a Subscriber Agreement Form.
  • Present your valid international passport, driver’s license or national ID card.
  • Provide 1 Passport Photograph.
  • Undergo a Credit Rating.

A. MTN XtraSpecial Postpaid is a special tariff plan that allows you enjoy a FLAT rate of 15.36 kobo per second for MTN-to-MTN calls, MTN-to-Other networks and to 10 selected international destinations from the very first second. Q. How Do I migrate to XtraSpecial Postpaid for Consumer postpaid?

A. To migrate to MTN XtraSpecial Postpaid, you will need to visit any MTN Service Centre or Connect Store nationwide and do the following:

    • Fill and sign off a Subscriber Agreement Form
    • Present your valid international passport, driver’s license or national ID card
    • 2 Passport Photograph
    • Fill a bank confirmation form
    • Fill a Credit Consent Form
    • Provide a copy of a recent utility bill. This could be electricity, water, waste disposal or telephone bill.
    • Undergo a Credit Rating

Q. Will I be able to enjoy the flat call rate to the selected 10 international destination, if I migrate to any prepaid tariff plan?

A. You can still enjoy the same flat call rate of 15.36k/sec to the selected 10 international destinations only if you migrate to XtraSpecial Prepaid plan BUT if you migrate to any other Prepaid tariff plan, your calls to these 10 selected destinations will be charged at the standard international rate.


Q. What should I do to get the 10% airtime bonus on recharge?

A. You can get the 10% airtime Bonus on recharge when you recharge via the eligible recharge channels listed below:

Q. How long will I be able to use the 10% Airtime bonus on recharge?

A. The 10% Airtime bonus on recharge will be valid for 7 days BUT unused bonus will be cleared after 7days.


Q. Will I be able to share my 10% airtime bonus on recharge?

A. No. 10% Airtime bonus on recharge can’t be shared/transferred to another line.


Q. Will I get 10% Airtime bonus on recharge when I receive or send airtime via Share n Sell?

A. No. You will not get the 10% Airtime bonus on recharge when you receive or send airtime via Share n Sell.

Q. How many times can I get the 10% Airtime bonus on recharge?

A. You will receive the 10% Airtime bonus on recharge for every recharge you make via the eligible channels.


Q. If I migrate to another tariff plan with my 10% Airtime bonus on recharge, will I still be able to use it?

A. Yes, you will still be able to use the 10% Airtime bonus on recharge when you migrate to another tariff plan as long as the bonus has not expired

A. Yes, you will be able to buy any of the special data bundles multiple times as long as you are on XtraSpecial plan.

Q. Will I be able to roll over my data bundle?

A. You can only roll over unused data in your data main account if you renew the bundle before expiry or within the grace period after expiry.

Q. Will other tariff plans be allowed to purchase the Consumer Postpaid data plans?

A. No. Any Customer that is not on Consumer Postpaid Data will not be allowed to buy the Consumer Postpaid Data plan via any of the eligible channels BUT customers on XtraSpecial Prepaid plans will be able to but any of the Special data bundles.


Q. I received a pop-up menu to choose either Auto-renewal, One-off, or Buy for a Friend when activating a data bundle. What does this mean?

A. The pop-up menu is a feature that allows you to set your data bundle on Auto-renew or One-off purchase, and to “Buy for a Friend”:

    • ‘Auto-renew Purchase’ means that your data bundle will auto-renew after expiry as long as you are having enough airtime on your line.
    • ‘One-off Purchase’ means that your data bundle will not renew after expiry.
    • ‘Buy for a Friend’ option allows you to buy a data bundle for another number on MTN with your airtime.

Note: The ‘Buy For a Friend’ option can only be used to buy data for a friend on Consumer Postpaid Data tariff plans.


Q. If I have multiple data bundles active, which bundle will deplete first?

A. If you have multiple data bundles active on your line, the data bundle with the least validity will be used first.

Example: If you have a 30-day bundle plan and 60-day plan both active on your line, the 30-day plan will be used first before the 60 days plan.


Q. What happens if I exhaust my data bundle before the renewal date?

A. As soon as you exhaust your data bundle before the expiry, your data access will be suspended, and you will not be able to browse again. To continue browsing, you will need to do one of the following:

    • USSD *131*1# or *904#.
    • myMTNApp
    • myMTN Web
    • Opt-in for Pay-As-You-Go browsing by dialing *131*200# to continue browsing with your airtime at N3.07/MB.

Q. Will I be able to enjoy data bonus offers when I activate a data bundle?

A. Yes, you will be able to enjoy 100%, and any other bonus offers you are eligible for on the network whenever you buy a data bundle. The offer includes.

    • 100% 4G Upgrade Bonus: this offer is available only on N15000 and below N5000 data bundles (excluding N500 for 2GB 2-Day Plan) beginning from month 1 to month 3 after upgrading your SIM to 4G.
    • 100% Device Bonus: you will get a 100% data bonus only when you buy data bundles from N5000 and below buy with a newly activated phone/device.

Q. Will I be able to rollover my unused main data bundle?

A. Yes, you will be able to roll over your Unused main data bundle ONLY if you buy another data plan from the same category with the current bundle within the stipulated grace period.

Q. Can I share my MTN Consumer Postpaid Data Bundles?

A. Yes, you will be able to transfer/share from your Consumer Postpaid data bundle to another Consumer Postpaid line via below channels:

    • USSD – Dial *131*Phone number*Data amount#.
    • SMS – Text Transfer<space>Phonenumber<space>Data amount to 131.

You will ONLY be able to transfer from your Consumer Postpaid data bundle to a line that is also on Consumer Postpaid tariff plan.


Q. I am having 1GB remaining from my expired 35GB 2-Months Plan, will I be able to rollover the remaining 1GB if I buy another monthly data bundle?

A. Yes, you will be able to rollover your unused 1GB when you activate any data plan from the monthly bundle category, and the validity of the new data bundle you activated will be applied to the unused/remaining bundle.


Q. If I have multiple data bundle active from different categories, which bundle will auto-renew first?

A. All bundles will renew according to their bundle category – daily, weekly and monthly, etc. However, if you have multiple data bundles active from same category, the last data plan you purchased from that category will be the bundle that will be auto-renewed.

For Example: if you activate two data plans from the daily plans; (40MB on June 1st, 200MB on June 2nd), two plans from the monthly plan; (1.5GB on June 3rd and 14GB on June 4th), on the day of renewal, only 200MB from the daily plan and 14GB from the monthly plan will be the plans that will auto-renew.


Q. Can I share my MTN Consumer Postpaid Data Bundles?

A. Yes, you will be able to transfer/share from your Consumer Postpaid data bundle to another Consumer Postpaid line via below channels:

    • USSD – Dial *131*Phone number*Data amount#.
    • SMS – Text Transfer<space>Phonenumber<space>Data amount to 131.

Note: You will ONLY be able to transfer from your Consumer Postpaid data bundle to a line that is also on Consumer Postpaid tariff plan.


Q. What will happen if I do not renew my expired bundle or purchase another bundle of the same category after the rollover period?

A. If you fail to renew your expired bundle or purchase another bundle from the same category after the rollover period, all your un-used bundles will be cleared. See Data Roll- Over table for details.


Q. Will I be able to rollover my unused data bonus?

A. No, you will NOT be able to rollover any unused data bonus even if the bundle auto-renews before expiry, upon expiry, or within the applicable rollover period.


Q. If I have multiple data bundles active from different categories, which bundle will auto-renew first?

A. All bundles will renew according to their bundle category – daily, weekly, and monthly, etc. However, if you have multiple data bundles active from the same category, the last data plan you purchased from that category will be the bundle that will be auto renewed.

A. Yes, you can gift an MTN Data Bundle by dialling *131*7# to Buy For a Friend but the recipient must be on Consumer Postpaid tariff plan.


Q. Will I be able to browse from my airtime automatically after exhausting my data bundle?

A. You will be able to browse from your airtime only after exhausting your data bundle, BUT you will be required to opt in by dialing *131*200# before you can browse from your airtime at Pay As You Go rate.


Q. How do I opt-in for PAYG browsing?

A. To opt in for PAYG browsing, simply;

    • Dial *131*200#.
    • Send RESET to 131.

Q. How much will I be charged for browsing from my airtime after opting in for PAYG browsing?

A. Your browsing from your airtime will be charged at N3.07/MB.


Q. Will I be charged for opting in for PAYG browsing?

A. No, you will not be charged for opting in for PAYG browsing.


Q. How do I opt out of PAYG browsing?
