MTN Visitor’s SIM Plan is a tariff plan available to only foreigners and visitors during their short stay in Nigeria. Only visitors coming into the country for a short stay or passing through the airports can use this plan.
To use this plan, visitors are required to register the special SIM(Visitor’s SIM) with their biometrics, return ticket, and international passport from their country before using the SIM.

Q: How will the tariff plan be activated?
A: You will be required to buy and register a new SIM card, after this, our customer care representative will need to activate any bundle plan based on your choice.
Q: Can I activate the plan by myself initially?
A: No, The first activation needs to be done in our service centers/shop including the service point at the airport by a frontline staff immediately after SIM registration is performed.
Q: How will I confirm my line is a Visitor’s SIM?
A: As soon as you insert the SIM into a phone, along with the standard SIM registration message, you will receive the below welcome message;
“Welcome to MTN Visitor’s Plan! Get 100 mins for local calls, N2000 for intl calls/SMS, and 5GB data on our Visitor’s bundle for as low as N5000. Dial Dial *131*90# to get started. Have a great stay in Nigeria and thank you for Turning it up with MTN”.
Q: Will I be able to activate plan after exhaustion of the previous bundle?
A: Yes, you will be able to activate the bundle subsequently using any of the activation channels.
Q: Will an existing pre-paid or post-paid customer be able to activate this bundle?
A: No, this bundle is only available to visitors coming into the country for a short visit and met the criteria for this tariff plan.

A: Yes, multiple bundle purchase is allowed
Q: Can I transfer or share airtime or data from the bundle?
A: No, you will not be able to gift, transfer or share from the Visitor’s bundle.
You will NOT enjoy the following services on the Visitor’s plan:
- Share N’ sell
- Roaming Bundles/Offers/Services
- Super Roamer Offer
Q: Can I benefit from any existing MTN Services
A: Yes, you will be able to enjoy all existing MTN Services after you migrate out of the plan or the 30 days expires:
- XtraValue Bundles
- International Destination Bundle
- MTN Social Bundles
- Prepaid Data Bundles/Offers
- MTN Fastlink Modem and MTN Mi-Fi
- MTN BackUp
- Current and future Value Added Services unless otherwise stated
- Other current and future promotions/offers/Products unless otherwise stated
These services will be charged at standard rates.
Q: How long will the line be on the plan?
A: You will be on Visitor’s plan for 30 days after which the number will be automatically migrated to MTN XtraSpecial tariff plan BUT you will receive a pre-migration and migration notification message.
Q: Will I be notified before line is migrated out of the plan?
A: Yes, you will receive the pre-migration message to Xtraspecial tariff plan 7days, 5days, 2days before the migration.
Q: Can I migrate out of the plan at any time before the 30days?
A: Yes, You will be allowed to migrate out of the tariff plan at any time before the 30days period expires. However, you will be automatically migrated to MTN XtraSpecial tariff plan after 30days.
Q: Will I be able to activate the plan once he has migrated out of the plan?
A: No, once you migrate out of the plan before the 30days offer period, you will NOT be able to migrate back into the plan.
Q: Will it be possible to purchase another Visitor’s SIM?
A: No, You will NOT be able to buy another Visitor’s SIM after the 30 days offer period has expired should you extend your stay but you will be able to enjoy all our products and services on the line after the expiration.
Q: How will I check my airtime balance?
A: You will be able to query your MTN Visitor’s tariff main account by dialing *556# from her/his device.
Q: How will I be able to recharge my account?
A: You will be able to recharge your account via the following channels but not limited to;
- myMTN App
- Logical recharge
- MOD (*904)
